Since childhood, drawing and painting has always been my way of freezing time — capturing moments and beauty I want to revisit again and again.
As a kid, I recall how drawing a scene from a favorite movie would make me feel connected to the story and characters in some ethereal way. As I matured, Disney sketches evolved into live action close ups and my obsession with portrait art evolved.
Currently, my illustrative focus has included bringing my own stories and characters to life. From illustrating and authoring my first children’s book, to creating pen and ink drawings combining realistic animals with the imaginary, my drawing expresses thoughtful detail and a desire to infuse the natural world with something whimsical.
In contrast to my precise and rather methodical drawings, painting gives me the opportunity to freely tap into emotion and expression through color and motion and light. My inspiration comes primarily from the natural world around me — living in Colorful Colorado provides endless possibilities — and as a result, my pieces border a bit on Impressionism as the results are a rapid combination of spontaneity, energy, and complementary colors.
I'm a graduate of Chapman University in Orange, CA, where I studied Advertising & PR for Film. Currently, I work as a marketing specialist in beautiful Boulder, CO.
